Unleash the joy of flying with toy drones! After exploring over 30 different small drones, the Syma X12 takes the lead as the best toy drone, offering easy controls and an amusing design. Delve into the details of this playful drone and discover the rest of the top 5 below.

Syma always make great drones for both adults and kids alike. And the Syma X12 is no exception. I rated it as the best toy drone on this list because it was everything that I had hoped for when I was a kid who thought it would be so cool to fly a mini spaceship at home. This small quadcopter includes a controller similar to the PlayStation, propeller guards (to prevent accidents and tumble over objects) and a USB charger. It doesn’t hit hard when it falls from battery depletion too, so it is perfectly safe. Easy to use, fun to play with.

Personally, I find the Eachine E010 very cute. It’s fun to use for anybody because of its headless mode. It uses nylon that is durable enough to prevent bad crashes if ever it falls from zero batteries. The only thing that kind of sucks (but at the same time not so much because of the price) is the battery life of only up to 5 minutes. But hey, at least charging is fast. At its farthest, the Eachine drone can reach up to 100 m. Generally, it’s also good to use outdoors as long as the wind isn’t that strong.

Best Budget Toy Drone: Hubsan X4 H107C

The Hubsan X4 H107C is so cheap, you can buy for as low as $20. So, what do you get for its price? Fun; that’s what you will have with the Hubsan X4 H107C. It is very easy to fly, no registration required and it includes FPV (yes, for this low price). To this day, it amazes me how Hubsan managed to create a wonderful drone that anybody can afford. It may only have a 0.3 MP camera but it is decent enough to capture great aerial shots. It is a solid budget choice to use indoor or outdoor.

Best FPV Toy Drone: Poke FPV Mini UFO

It may not come from planet Earth but it surely is friendly with humans. The Poke FPV Mini UFO includes an FPV, making this a great entry point for the young droners. It is so small and light, that you can carry this around with one hand. And thanks to its small stature, it does cute and incredible 3D aerobatics that anybody can do. But if you don’t want to use the FPV, you can always switch to headless mode for easy controls. Nevertheless, the camera on the drone is quite good enough to see everything in its field of view with clarity. It can also reach up to 30 m in altitude.

Best Outdoor Toy Drone: JJRC H20 Hexacopter

The JJRC H20 is meant for the teens and generally anyone who wants to have a good time with an outdoor drone. May I remind you that this drone is small. However, while it may be miniature, it can resist strong winds, which is why I categorized this as the best outdoor toy drone. The JJRC H20 is a hexacopter that you can freely customize with its extra parts included. The controls are easy but you can configure them too. And overall, the price is very cheap. For a drone with this much customization and strong design, this is quite a bargain buy.

What Toy Drone Should You Buy?

The best toy drones come in very small packages. The Syma X12 is my personal favorite because of its awesome controls, visually appealing design and overall great value for your money. That is not to say the Eachine E010 is anything worse; in fact, I could say that the E010 is as good as the X12. But if your budget is around $20 to $30, I recommend buying the Hubsan X4 H107C. If you like an FPV drone, do choose the Poke FPV Mini UFO. If you prefer outdoor flying, you should choose the JJRC H20. These are all great; it just comes down to your preference.

Toy Drone Buying Guide:

Size

If you are looking for a toy drone, the market will provide you with miniature ones. Sure, you can buy a bigger drone but those are more for the big boys; I’m talking about drones that cost around $100 and above because these UAVs are no joke and will need proper responsibility to use them wisely.

Easy Controls

Controls should be easy if you are flying a toy drone. Since it is a novelty type of UAV, controls should never be complex like a serious hobby drone Because of its casual purpose, the controls have to be very simple to the point where even the most inexperienced drone user can fly one properly within a few minutes.

Price

The best thing about the toy drone is the price. Unlike the common recreational drones, toy drones are cheaper to the point of just $15. Yet, if you just prefer something more, there are bigger and better toys at around $20 to $50.

Headless Mode

Most commonly, headless mode is vital in toy drones. Basically, what it means is that you don’t even need to rely on the drone’s camera to move it. Instead, it performs in a free-form manner wherein you can control the UAV from your line of sight.

Toy Drone FAQ:

What is the best toy drone?

The answer will depend on your preference. If you skipped the list of the best toy drones based on my research, you can always check out other forums and reviews if you don’t find what you’re looking for in this article. Personally, I think you’ll find the Syma X12 to be the best toy drone.

Can drones be used indoors?

Not every drone is ideal for flying inside your household, though. The only good ones are the smallest kinds since large drones like the DJI Phantom 4 Pro can just knock over anything inside the house. Unless you live in a mansion or a house with a high ceiling, it is more ideal to get a toy drone.

Do all toy drones require a smartphone?

Most toy drones have smartphone apps - especially the FPV types. Although, there are some that are much like a pure aerial R/C where all you need is a controller that comes with it. Even if you don’t have a smartphone, the indoor drones with apps always have a PC app version.

What is a toy drone?

A toy drone is a small unmanned aerial vehicle that can fit the palm of your hand. Toy drones are cheaper than the usual hobby drones since these are more inclined to children who like flying toys and hobbyists who find joy in small-figured drones.
