Personally, I really like the DJI Mavic Mini for its affordability and compact design. For drone experts, it’s a great way to enjoy the beauty of a DJI drone without burning your wallet too much. It may only carry 2.7K resolutions for the camera but that does not mean the picture qualities are anything less. It is small enough to carry around with you while large enough in its features to keep you impressed everytime you fly it. The Mavic Mini is also very beginner-friendly, so if you plan on starting the hobby with the DJI, I have 2 options for you: the Mavic Mini or the Tello.

Now here’s a DJI drone that only costs $100. Okay, so it may not be the cheapest mini drone right now, but the main point here is that the DJI Tello is nothing less than spectacular. It’s so small and light, you won’t even need to register your UAV to the FAA. Its app is very reliable, and the VR headtracking is awesome. The camera comes equipped with 720p and 5 different modes to choose from. This is not just the cheapest DJI drone available, but it is also one of the easiest drones to control. Experience the best of DJI in a more convenient way.

Best Racing RC Drone: Walkera F210

The Walkera F210 Professional Deluxe Racer is a lean mean racing machine that is one of the fastest drones available. The F210 is also one of the best-sellers when it comes to racing due to the F3 flight system enabled and a very sleek chopper look. Acceleration and top speed are fast as lightning while maneuverability is second to none. The drone even includes an advanced night vision, making it favorable for night races or just strolling down the neighborhood in the evening. Controls are simple, and customization is amazing. Whether you are a beginner or expert, the Walkera F210 speaks volumes when it comes to competitive racing.

Best Budget RC Drone: Eachine E58

The Eachine E58 is a crowd favorite since it performs similarly like a DJI drone except for much cheaper. As in, WAY cheaper. Yes, this foldable FPV drone can do wonders while on a tight budget. It looks like a DJI Mavic 2 Pro yet it can compete against other higher-end drones. Its remote controller is very easy to use too, making it a great entry-level RC drone for the inexperienced looking to join in on the aerial hobby. The camera may not be the best but it certainly functions well too. Look no further than the Eachine E58 if you want a great budget-level drone.

What Drone Should You Buy?

Surely, the DJI Mavic 2 Pro is the best RC drone to date thanks to its 4K resolution images and videos, long-distant travel, long battery life and overall functionality. But if you want a cheaper alternative to the Mavic 2 Pro but still want to feel the rush of a high-quality DJI drone, go with the DJI Mavic Mini. And yet, there is a much more affordable and smaller version of it in the form of the DJI Tello. Yet, if that brand is still too much for you, there is always the Eachine E58 as your cheapest alternative. And when it comes to racing, the Walkera F210 is lightning fast.

Buying Guide (200 Words):

Functionality

Obviously, you will need a drone that can do almost everything that a recreational UAV can do. As such, the top 5 drones I listed down have the following best qualities: controls, camera, distance, battery life, and price. If you correlate those all together, you come up with a list of the downright best. Of course, there are plenty of drones out there but still, I highly recommend giving my top 5 list a chance.

Responsiveness

The last thing you would ever want in a drone is latency - a lag or delay within milliseconds as you prompt the controls. DJI (as well as Walkera and Eachine) manages to keep this maintained by creating remote controls that are top of the line. Even if your drone is so far away and it looks like a dot from your line of sight, it should still respond quickly to your controls.

Price

The drones listed here (except the Mavic 2 Pro) are quite cheap, but the main gist of this list is that these UAVs have the best features. The Mavic 2 Pro, while it is still expensive, performs as an all-purpose drone, making it a bang for your buck.

Controls

Whether you are using your smartphone app, the monitor, VR or just your perspective, controls are correlated to the view of the drone and the pilot. That’s why controls always need to be very simple.

RC Drone FAQ:

What is the difference between RC drone and FPV drone?

There are quite a few people that still get confused between an RC drone and an FPV drone. Generally, they are the same; it just depends on how you use it. If you use the drone camera as your reference for navigation, that’s FPV. But if you are using a drone in general, it’s RC.

How much is an RC drone?

Fortunately, drones nowadays are not so expensive as it was during its debut for the consumer-level market. Now, you can get a drone that costs as low as $20 but it is very small and with a short battery life. Yet, drones can cost as much as $2,500 but those are the commercial types.

What is the best RC drone for beginners?

A lot of drones these days are very easy to use. The Eachine E58 and the DJI Tello are among them due to very simple controls and high accessibility to everyone. I could list down more, but I will just do that in another article.

Is it easy to fly an RC drone?

Not all drones are especially easy. Your best option is to buy the most popular ones like the DJI Mavic series or the low-cost drones from Hubsan, Yuneec, Holy Stone and Eachine. Sure, it does take time to fly a drone, but I highly recommend switching to headless mode - that mode is a miracle for newbies.
